Emotionally spent this week, although I've made several attempts to post, all I can muster up is a playlist of new music that has been getting me through.
I'm still finding my bearings with all going on personally and in the world but I'm feeling a lot more optimistic.
Along with my continued exploration of unique things that make me happy/calm me down, I've been slowly organising the house, indulging in TV shows and films that I started but never got around to finishing, namely This Is Us, Snowfall and surprisingly, Hamilton - I definitely get the hype. Also trying out new skincare and make-up products and I've started making wigs again - not that I ever really stopped, it can be very time consuming so I have to fit making them around my schedule, as opposed to on demand.
I guess it also helps that we have been getting a lot of sunshine lately, just in time as well because, I don't know about you, but the boost in vitamin D has lifted my mood, energy and has motivated me to be more active. ANNDDD with this news of a heatwave coming next month, preparations need to be made!
On to the playlist!
Firstly, I am so glad that we're finally getting some solid bodies of music and singles! January was kind of slow in terms of releases, other than my 2021 playlist, I think I only had The Weeknd's Dawn FM and Gunna's DS4Ever on repeat for most of the month. However, despite the chart positioning, I definitely preferred the former way more than the latter.
For me, the new releases from Lucky Daye, Adekunle Gold, Mariah the Scientist, Earthgang and Cruel Santino (formerly Santi) have been the standout projects so far and certainly worth the wait. I still need to listen to Kojey Radical's new one so I'm sure I'll be adding new music to this playlist until the end of the month. Just need new music from Kendrick Lamar - which I suspect should be coming very soon, as he's doing a lot of international festivals this year - then I can rest easy. 🤞🏾
Looking for new music? Listen to my March Madness playlist here and while you're there, why not check out my other ones?
